| Do market analyses for manufacturers in 2010 |
|
We are at the start of a New Year and we are at the start of a new period of economic recovery.
I can think of a more auspicious time to share with you my thoughts about the emerging trends and market forces that will drive demand for molds and tooling in the coming months and years. I will provide more specifics in future columns, but for now, I want to give an overview of where I believe we are headed and topics that will dominate the economic and market analyses for manufacturers in 2010. Energy Environment For several years, moldmakers have told me that the lack of qualified personnel is one of the biggest threats to the future viability of the industry. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the lack of qualified personnel is one of the biggest threats to the future viability of the entire country. There is a clear trend toward more people with more needs and more problems, but what is not clear is whether there are enough people with the right education and training to be able to meet this trend. So the need for more education seems obvious. We need to develop more qualified people in the manufacturing sector, and we need to supply these people with more products and tools that they can use to meet the needs and solve the problems that are emerging. So there they are. The three Es that will dominate the Economy this year, and for many years to come. You may not agree with all of the problems, solutions and trends that will emerge, but be aware that these trends will create opportunities for all segments of theNorthAmerican manufacturing sector. We will try to make you aware of some of these opportunities in future columns. And rest assured that while the road ahead is not likely to be Easy, it can still be Exciting.
